Welcome!
From 2009 to 2020, Opulent Fibers supplied fiber artists with materials, kits, and in person or online instruction in felt making.
When owner, Kristy Kún, closed the retail portion of the business and transitioned to creating her own artwork, the website remained live for distribution of online workshops and as a bridge to her artwork website.
OpulentFibers.com is now (yes, it’s now 2025!) getting a new life as the platform for announcing in person workshops hosted in Kristy’s Ashland, Oregon studio.

Innovation in Handmade Felt since 2009
your trusted source of inspiration, instruction, and materials
Opulent Fibers
Opulent Fibers began with mission to share the magic of wool and it’s synthesis into felt with like minded enthusiasts around the globe. Created by Oregon based artist, Kristy Kún, a Waldorf parent with a passion for hand-work education and natural materials, the felting studio has seen many iterations over the years; from a youth centered workshop of industrial arts, to a community supported hub of felt making, and most recently, a finely tuned studio for craftsmanship in wood and wool. Learn more about the history and how to take part in the journey.
Opulent Flower
Kristy’s flower marked the beginning of her transformation from a fiber distributor to a fiber artist. It started as a bit of a challenge from a friend, and has become one of the defining pieces in her portfolio. To be true to her original intention to share techniques with an audience of fiber enthusiasts and sculptors, the flower technique has been taught in workshops around the world, published in German and English, and is available as a kit on this site. As the small works are an enjoyable change from some of the heavier felting Kristy pursues, these flowers are always in bloom.
